Remember you need to clean all tooth surfaces in addition to the brace surface we detail below. Use a Fluoride containing tooth paste and an alcohol free daily fluoride mouth wash.
Brushing with braces is a little trickier, so leave yourself a little extra time each day. It’s as simple as brushing below the brackets and the gum margin, on top of the brace, above the brace, between the brace and the tooth and in between the teeth. With practice it will become easy!
Position brush below the brackets and angle the tooth brush toward your gum to gently brush side the area where the tooth meets the gum.
Gently brush on top of the brace
Gently brush above the brace
Use the special orthodontic tooth brush or interdental brush to clean between the wire and the tooth, moving up and down either side of each bracket.
Flossing with you brace
Pass the floss under your orthodontic wire
Floss between the teeth
Use a small interdental brush to clean food trapped between the wire and the tooth.
Use a single tufted brush in small gentle circular motions which tickle the gum.
Use an interdental brush to clean between teeth and under the bonded wire
Alternatively in tighter spaces, use Superfloss passed between the teeth and under the bonded wire to clean between the teeth and under the bonded wire.
