Is interceptive orthodontics cost effective?

Is interceptive orthodontics cost effective?  Dr Jaspal Panesar, Consultant and Specialist Orthodontist at Birmingham Orthodontics, Sutton Coldfield held his first meeting as President of the Midland Orthodontic Society.

Mr Joe Noar and Mr Jaspal Panesar at the Midland Orthodontic Society meeting

The Midland Orthodontic Society is a successful and established society based in the West Midlands that has organised a series of lectures for over 30 years. It welcomes primary and secondary care dentists of all specialties, orthodontic therapists, orthodontic technicians and nurses aiming to increase awareness and knowledge in orthodontics.

Mr Noar gave a highly stimulating and interactive lecture based on how he manages the developing dentition, in his private orthodontic practice, free from the constraints of NHS orthodontics.

Topics included managing correction off posterior cross bites, anterior cross bites, canine eruption, crowding in the growing patient and anterior open bites.

It was clear that early intervention could significantly reduce the complexity, complications and treatment time and therefore is cost effective for patients, however these treatments may not be adequately supported by the NHS.

If you want to arrange an appointment for Dr Panesar to undertake your child’s orthodontics assessment, please call Harvy on 01213530829 or click here.

The next meeting will take place on 2nd February 2016. Dr Panesar will welcome Professor Martyn Cobourne, who will be discussing “Regulating tooth number in the developing dentition: why can it go so wrong?”
